Ms. Margaret Carmel Hallex

JOHNS ISLAND, SC - In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of The Serenity Mortuary announce the passing of Ms. Margaret Carmel Hallex, 62 of Johns Island, SC, who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at a local hospital.

Margaret Carmel Hallex was born to Edna Frances Hallex (Graff) and Edward Campbell Hallex on August 7th , 1959, in Charleston, SC. She was the 5th born out of 9 children for the couple. Carmel attended Saint Andrews High School in Charleston, SC. In her adult life she worked in the restaurant business as a waitress. One of the restaurants she worked at for over 15 years was Alex’s Restaurant on Savannah Hwy. in Charleston. She made many friends and acquaintances from working in the restaurant business. In her personal time, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, reading, trips to the beach, listening to country, rock and roll, and christian music, looking at pictures made by Thomas Kincade, and spending time with her cats that she had throughout the years. Carmel also loved collecting angels. Later in life she began her spiritual journey through attending church and accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior. She loved attending church and fellowshipping with other believers. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Michael, Robert, John, Marie. As well as multiple aunts and uncles. Surviving family members include siblings Mary, Paul, Christopher, and Bubba Hallex. Niece Laura Mundinger (Massey), Nephew Edward Campbell Hallex II, Nephew Hunter Hallex, and multiple cousins. The family of Carmel would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Sand Piper Nursing Facility, and MUSC for their amazing care of Carmel in her final months. We would also like thank TEAM CARMEL friends Chad, Mark, Milly, Florence, and Pastor Steve for their care and friendship with Carmel. Celebration of life services will be held on Saturday December 4th, 2021 at 1p.m at Revive Charleston Church, 1527 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.
