NORTH EAST, MARYLAND -  The Management and Staff of The Serenity Mortuary announce the passing of Mrs. Shirley Larane Brown - Moore, 82 of North East, Maryland (formerly of Summerville, SC.) who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Laurelwood Care Center at Elkton, Elkton, Maryland.

The Management and Staff of The Serenity Mortuary are honored to serve the family of the late Mrs. Shirley Larane Brown - Moore, we ask that you please keep her family in your thoughts as well as your prayers.

The Essence of Shirley Larane

March 11, 1941~ May 30, 2023 

Shirley Larane Brown-Moore was born in Summerville South Carolina, on March 11, 1941, to the late Rosalee Jenkins Ketchens and James Arthur Ketchens. She entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 2:15pm at the Laurelwood Healthcare Center in Elkton, Maryland, at the age of 82 after a long battle with Vascular Dementia.  

She received her education in the Dorchester County School System and graduated from Alston High School the “Class of 1960.” From there she went to Trade School in Hoboken, New Jersey where she became a professional tailor. Later in life, she had an opportunity once her children got older to go to work for the Dorchester County Public School System which she retired from in 1997. 

Shirley was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Green Moore, which preceded her in death. From this union two children were born and one son from a previous marriage, Kirk Reginald Brown, which also preceded her in death.  

She leaves to cherish her precious everlasting memories, two daughters Valerie Glover of Savannah, Georgia, and Shaunette Moore-Webster (Jeremy) of Northeast, Maryland, one sister Courtland Mackey, one brother- in-law William Mackey Sr., one sister- in- law Sylvia Ketchens all of Summerville, South Carolina; Seven grandchildren Eric Glover Jr., James Moore, Vanessa Glover all of Savannah, Georgia. Dashaun Crawford and Kirk Crawford of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Sherika Brown of Summerville, South Carolina, and Karen Moore of Northeast Maryland. Ten Great-grandchildren Aubree, Andrea, Destiny, Kayla, Jayla, Jordyn, Ka’myiah, Kaydence, Nami, Savannah and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. 

The family will accept visitors from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm immediately following will be the funeral services @ 12:30 pm; both will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Murray United Methodist Church 1216 Orangeburg Road Summerville, SC  29483 where the Pastor Reverend Lillie K. Davis will be officiating. 

Immediately following the benediction, a graveside Dove release will be held at: Murray United Methodist Church Cemetery 1216 Orangeburg Road Summerville, SC 29483
