Mrs. Micah L. Walker Obituary

"For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain"

SUMMERVILLE, SC - In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of The Serenity Mortuary announce the passing of Mrs. Micah L. Walker, 71 of Summerville, SC., who entered into eternal rest on Saturday morning, January 28, 2023 at Trident Medical Center with her family at her bedside. Mrs. Walker is the beloved and devoted wife of Mr. Ernest Lee Walker, the devoted mother of Mr. Markiese Walker and Mrs. Tracy Ary (Creston).

Micah Walker, daughter of the late Elizabeth Joyner Chapman and John Henry Brown, was born April 4, 1951 in Summerville, South Carolina.  She quietly departed this life and entered into her eternal rest on January 28, 2023 at the age of 71.  She had two siblings, Johnny Joyner (deceased) and Wanda Turner.

Micah attended the public schools of Summerville and attended Clemson University where she obtained her associates degree in Nutrition. Micah resided briefly in Westchester County, New York where she fostered many children through BCW Foster Kids and she worked for Cooperative Extension -- Clemson University.

Micah professed her faith in Wesley United Methodist Church where she was a faithful choir member as well as an active participant in several different organizations.  Micah was a huge part of her church as well as a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Micah was united in holy matrimony to Ernest Lee Walker of Summerville, SC.  This union was blessed with two children.

Micah was an integral part of the Owner of Helping Hands Day Care.  She eventually left and created Miss Micah Day Care, an in-home day care service.  She owned this business from 1980 up until the early 1990s when she decided to close it altogether to take care of her children.  She retired from the overall childcare business in 2020.  Some of her children have grown up and are now affiliated in the NFL, NBA, News Anchors and many, many college students.  Micah’s family pays this tribute to her:  Micah was one of the most kindest people you could ever meet. She opened her heart and her home to many children over the years and she will be sorely missed.

Micah is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ernest Walker, and her two children, Markiese and Traci and 5 grandchildren.

Micah’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Markiese Walker, and Traci Ary (Creston); and 5 grandchildren Justin Walker, Zamiir Walker, Markiese Walker Jr, Rayven Ary and Chandler Ary; and a host of In-Laws, Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles Cousins and Friends.
