Mrs. Mary Lee (Simmons) Ashe

RIDGEVILLE, SC - In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Lee Ashe, 85 of Ridgeville, SC., who entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, May 26, 2019 at a local hospital. She is the beloved wife of Rev. Edward Ashe.

Mary Lee Simmons Ashe was born March 3, 1934 in Givhans, South Carolina.  The daughter of the late Chris and Eva Allerfair Simmons.  She peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 26, 2019.

Mary Lee was educated in the Dorchester County Public School System.  She was an active member of Magnolia Baptist Church, Ridgeville, SC and later joined Olive Branch Baptist Church, Charleston, SC.  She was a dedicated and faithful Servant until she answered her master’s Call to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

She was preceded in death by one son Cornelius Ashe and one sister Ms. Devern June Simmons.

Mary Lee leaves to cherish her fond memories a devoted husband of 67 years, Rev. Edward Ashe, children: Felix (Evelyn) Ashe, Ridgeville, SC, Kelvin (Dr. Missoura G.) Ashe of Evans, Georgia, Rusty (Diana) Ashe, Hampton, SC, Renee (James) Gethers, Newport, NC, Winslow (Barbara) Ashe, Ridgeville, SC, Charmas Tony Ashe, Ridgeville, SC; three sisters, Mrs. Vernether King, Summerville, SC, Mrs. Roberta Felder, Ridgeville, SC, Mrs. Glenny (Williams) Bertie, Walterboro, SC, two brothers, Mr. C. L. Simmons, Brooklyn, NY and Mr. James Simmons, Detroit Michigan, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Walker, Summerville, SC, 17 Grands, a host of great grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She will be truly missed.
