SUMMERVILLE, SC - In profound sorrow we the Management & Staff of The Serenity Mortuary announce the passing of Mrs. Gloria Ann Johnson, 70 Summerville, SC., who entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 9, 2021 at a local hospital. Mrs. Johnson is the beloved mother of Mr. Joseph Hughes, III and Ms. Stephanie Hughes.

Mrs. Gloria Ann Shuler Johnson was born April 15, 1950 in Ridgeville, South Carolina. She transcended into heaven on April 9, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clay and Viola Shuler.
Gloria graduated from Alston High School in Summerville, South Carolina with the Class of 1967. She became a member of Christ Temple Deliverance Church in Ridgeville, South Carolina in the early 70’s and remained a member until she departed this life on April 9, 2021. Second only to her faith was the love and devotion Gloria had for her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend: Gloria lived a purpose driven life. She believed that family was God’s greatest gift and our responsibility to keep family close and cherish the love. It is in her three children that Gloria found her greatest joy, strength and courage. Gloria worked as a security guard with MDC in St Matthews for 8 years. She sometimes worked multiple jobs at once to ensure the needs of her family were met. Gloria will forever be remembered and loved by family and friends, as well as everyone that had the good fortune to know.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Mr Donald R. Johnson. Left to cherish her memory are her children and granddaughter who she raised as her own. Mr. Joseph Hughes III, Ms. Stacy LaShell Kelly, Ms.Stephenie Nicole Hughes and Ms. Kelsee Shante Berry. Her brother and sisters Richard Shuler Jr (Ruby), Perthel Rump, Lucinda Way, Rosa Mary Brown (Virgil), her God-daughter Faith Robinson, her loving grandchildren, Evasherll Hughes, Tysheianna Wolfe-Hughes, Aliqie Wolfe, Tiffany Strong, Antwana Hughes, Viola Dillitte, Dondrea Berry, Charmilla Prince and her great-grands, Drae’Quane Berry, Malachi Berry, Dezmein Berry, Kali Berry, Kaitlyn Berry, Zuri Berry, Robin Pringle, Demetrius Hughes, Alexander Simpson, and Armani Simpson
