JAMAICA, NY - In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mr. Wilson Glover, Jr., 78 of Jamaica, NY., who entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 23, 2019.
Wilson Glover Jr. was born as the oldest of nine to the late Wilson and Danie Mae (nee Haynes) Glover on July 16, 1941. He was affectionally called Jerry by all who knew him. On Monday, September 23rd Jerry peacefully left his home on earth to make heaven his eternal home.
Jerry was raised in Ridgeville, SC and was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. He left home at an early age to make a life for himself. He originally relocated to Jacksonville, Florida then moved to Queens, New York which became his forever home. You could always find Jerry shopping for and dressing in the latest fashions. He spent many years working in the dry-cleaning industry and was also the owner of a social club until his health failed.
Jerry met Ethelean “Pig” Booker and their love blossomed into a lifelong partnership. They raised four children together. Jerry enjoyed the time he shared with Pig, their children and grandchildren. Pig and two grandchildren, Shaquana Booker and Sha-key Foster Bey preceded him in death.
Jerry loved his family and you could always catch him on the phone chatting with one of his siblings or everyone passing the phone around to say “Hey Uncle Jerry” when gathered for holidays or Sunday dinner. Jerry always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. As his health failed his sisters tried to talk him into returning “home” to South Carolina and he would jokingly say “I’m not coming back to those sticks.” He had four siblings whom preceded him in death: Evelyn Lee, Lillie Glover, Samuel Glover and Sandra Glover.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children: Wayne (Donnett) Booker, Gerald (Bertha) Booker, Toni Booker and Monique Booker; Siblings: Juanita Reddic, Loretta Glover, Wilbur Glover and Donnell Glover; Brother-in-law: John Lee; Aunts: Emily G. Haynes and Lona Bell Myers; Seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
