Ethel Pryor Ellis

SUMMERVILLE, SC - In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mrs. Ethel Pryor Ellis, 91 of Summerville, SC., who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

Mrs. Ethel Ellis, daughter of the late Wesley and Mattie W. Pryor was born on May 4th, 1929 in Ridgeville, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by both her husband, Benjamin Ellis and son, Leon Ellis.

Ethel worked as a welder and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

Ethel joined Bethel AME Church at a young age and served there as a faithful usher until her health begin to decline.  She enjoyed spending time with her family in Ridgeville after church on Sunday afternoons and she will always be remembered by her soft and gentle smile. 

Ethel was preceded in death by her siblings Wilma Caviness, Mary Haynes, Madge Rumph, Deloris Williams, Jack Pryor, Walter (Mary) Pryor and Ernest Pryor.   She leaves to cherish her loving memories her grandchildren, Ley’onna Pearson and Leondrae Ellis; sisters, Florence Lary and Catherine Nix; brother, West Pryor;  sisters-in-law, Eartha Pryor, Herlene Pryor, Mazzie Brooks and Hilda Mazyck; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
