Mrs. Martha Platts Wiggins Obituary

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mrs. Martha Platts Wiggins, 70 of North Charleston, SC., who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning, May 1, 2019 at a local hospital. Mrs. Wiggins is the beloved wife of Mr. Freddie Wiggins, Jr. and she is a retired dietitian.

Martha Platts Wiggins was born in Charleston, SC on July 8 ,1948 to Mack Platts, Jr. and Mamie Wright Platts.

 Martha was the baby girl out of 9 Children. She has one surviving brother, Deacon James Leon Platts, Sr. which is the baby boy left.

Martha was raised in Charleston, SC and educated in the Public School of Charleston, SC.

Martha met and married, Freddie Wiggins, Jr., on May 14, 1966. To this union, two children were born, Michael Wiggins and Antionette Davis.

Martha worked at the Citadel and at Roper Hospital as a Dietician for 36 years where she retired in 2011.

Martha accepted the Lord at an early age at Francis Brown A.M.E, Ashe Street, Charleston SC, for many years. In May of 2004, she became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Willis Glover, Sr, Pastor.  Martha served the church very faithfully as an usher until her Illness prevented her from serving.

Martha was a very loving and kind person and would do anything for anybody for she loved people.

Martha leaves to mourn her memories: her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Freddie Wiggins, Jr., children: Michael Wiggins and Antionette Davis, grandchildren: Marques Wiggins, Jeremiah Williams, Darius Bowen and Isleigh Anderson, brother, Deacon James, Sr. (Rev. Virginia) Platts, brother-in-law, Abraham B. Wiggins, sisters-in-law, Barbara Wiggins, Minister Cynthia Harris, Barbara Platts and Ann Platts, Special Friends:  Betty Murray, Emily Simmons, Jan Hartwell, Zonda Hartwell, Annette Clark, Mattie Buford, McKell Hearns, Rosa Freeman, Juanita Blunt and Beatrice Simmons and a host of nieces, nephews and other relative and friends.
