SUMMERVILLE, SC - In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mrs. Annie Marie Ferrell, 78 of Summerville, SC., who entered into eternal rest on Thursday evening, January 2, 2020. Mrs. Ferrell is the widow of Mr. James Ferrell, Sr. and a former glass cutter with Goer Manufacturing.
“Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. “For my yoke is easy, and my load is light” Matthew 11:28-30
Annie Marie Simmons-Ferrell was born September 18, 1941 in Dorchester County, to the late Anna Lee Desaussure. She entered a peaceful rest on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Summerville Community Hospice Center, Summerville, SC.
At an early age Marie accepted Christ into her life at Murray UM Church in Summerville, SC (Jedburg); where she was a faithful and dedicated member and President of the United Methodist Women East Wing Circle.
She attended the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of the class of 1959 of Alston High School Summerville, SC
She was united in holy matrimony to the late James Ferrell, Sr. for 59 years; to this union five children were born; one whom preceded her in death James “Rick” Ferrell, Jr. She was also preceded in death by two brothers David and Isreal “Billy” Desaussure.
Marie was employed as a Glass Cutter at Goer Manufacture in Charleston, SC until closing. Her other hobbies included gardening, fixing things, crocheting, working puzzles, but most of all helping others and going to yard sales.
Those who will cherish her fond memories are her children: Sharon Muldrew, Terrance Ferrell, and Anthony Ferrell, of Summerville, SC, Gwendolyn Ferrell of Atlanta, GA; a daughter- in- law Vautina Ferrell; five grandchildren, three great-grand children, a sister-in-law Ethel Williams, a brother-in-law Leroy Ferrell.
Her devoted and dedicated cousins from Springtown, SC. Devoted nieces Carla Desaussure and Chantell Glover (Laval), a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and the traveling Golden Girls of Jedburg, SC.
